Watching Donald Trump's Self Destruction, With Sadness

WAY BACK WHEN, when the republicans started out with sixteen good looking presidential candidates plus Donald Trump, I, a Bernie Sanders socialist, hopped on the Trump bandwagon, primarily because I figured he would mess up the republican party, and hand the election to the democrats, but also because I, like so many others, was attracted to Trump's charisma, straight talk, and the evident fact that he tended to say exactly what he thought. It didn't take long for all that to wear thin for me, as I began to see through it, and a little bit of the Donald goes a long way, as our conservative colleagues are belatedly beginning to beware. It looks like my analysis was sound, and my dreams, of a democrat president, will soon come true. And yet, I was attracted to Trump for a strangely long time, before becoming repulsed by him, almost in the same manner that the Germans remained mesmerized by Hitler for way, way too long. Trump still reminds me of Hitler, as he has for the past, oh, say, several months, ever since I really started to get to know and understand him. The big charisma, the big lie, the wildly absurd but strangely, morbidly appealing threats and accusations. The scapegoating hatred of small groups of people and individuals, the bluster, the insults and threats, the promise to be the great strong leader of all the little people, leading us all to glory, and the whole ball of Hitlerian wax. Trump acts just like Hitler, but Donald may have unintentionally saved America from himself just in time. All Hillary needs to do now is run out the clock, ignore anything Trump has to say, dismiss him as a basically sweet but sick guy who needs to withdraw from the political campaign and seek kinder, gentler but serious professional therapy for mental illness, and let the rest of us move on into a brighter, democratically led future. From now on Donald will try desperately to stay afloat by launching more vicious attacks than ever, which Hillary will ignore with a concerned look on her face, and which the rest of us should also ignore, since we want not to fight Trump anymore, but rather to help him get the help he obviously needs. Trump will try desperately to divert attention, and fight wildly like any dying animal, and by so doing he will hammer home his last coffin nail, all by his lonesome. The world will watch this pathetic man complete his own destruction, and it is to be hoped that not only will we simply Enjoy the show, but will do so with an appropriate modicum of sadness and compassion......PLEASE TELL OTHERS ABOUT THIS WEBSITE, AND CONSIDER CONTRIBUTING TO IT!
