Telling Lies
WE ALL TELL LIES. We are hard wired by nature to do so, as an evolutionary strategy to deter predatory threats from dangerous animals, including humans. Deception enhances our personal safety, and has for millions of years. We all lie, because we must. We all use deceptive tactics, while piously proclaiming our expectation that all others treat us with complete honesty. The most expedient option is to establish a societal morality mandating honestly, our natural impulse being to deprive all potential rivals for resources of their defensive strategies, to enhance our safety, and to enhance our opportunities to exploit others to our personal advantage. We want to avoid being preyed upon, while making others vulnerable to our own predatory schemes. We are clever creatures, deceptive beings, which is why we are still here. To accuse another person of dishonesty is to register our disapproval of their defense against us and our own desire to prey upon them. Nobody should tell lies? Nonsense! We all should, just as everyone should and must be inherently greedy, lustful, hungry, and thirsty. Civilization is nothing other than a universal agreement among us humans to temper our mutual predation, so we can work together for our mutual benefit in creating a society of accumulated wealth and security from other predatory species. Let whoever among us is without sin cast the first stone. The stones lie idle on the ground, untouched by human hands. Our precarious human agreement is reinforced through the expediency of human morality, and the concept of "sin" is a mere expedient" to strengthen the agreement. We resist and temper human nature to make our lives more efficient, to resolve conflict quickly, so we can devote scarce time, energy, and resources to the accumulation of material wealth. Human nature keeps us alive, but it creates the inefficiencies of organized conflict, needless destruction of accumulated material wealth, and premature death. We must forever strive to temper our basic nature, while accepting that it will always be what we are, and for a reason. but we cannot mold our nature better to our own advantage unless we understand its true nature.......PLEASE SHARE THIS SITE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
