The Self Destruction of Trump

THE REPUBLICANS BEGAN WITH a rather impressive group of presidential candidates, then chose the least qualified, most reprehensible among a reprehensible lot, Der Trumpster. Now the Grand Old Party is saddled with a freak show of a candidate who not only much of the republican establishment detests, but also a good portion of the conservative electorate, all because of a temper tantrum thrown by America's conservative community over their elected leader's inability to destroy Barack Hussein Obama. So, in desperation, Trump shakes up his staff repeatedly, firing everyone, turning his bizarre political campaign into a Kardashian style reality TV show with all the requisite shallow melodrama, which comes easy for him, and confusing matters more. Nobody can tell whether he is a conservative. That augers poorly for the prospect of solid conservative support. Now he is back tracking on his year long barrage of personal insults, again out of desperation, saying he "regrets" some of his prior comments. You can bet your lapel flag pin he regrets his own showing of his own ass. What he regrets is that his AR15 barrage of crudeness has finally begun to wear thin, even among typically boorish right wingers, and that he is falling further and further behind in the polls, to a weak disliked candidate who now only needs to run the ball, and run out the clock, the take the oath next January 20.
