The Dual Nature of Love

MORE THAN ALMOST ANYTHING ELSE, people have trouble with this concept "love". Somehow or other, it seems to mess with all of our lives. Libraries could be filled with books, songs, and movies about it.

Money probably causes more trouble than love, but its mighty close.

The solution, my friend, is in acceptance of that which we shall term "the duality of love". Which is to say, on the one hand, love is everywhere, all the time, infinite,  very cheap and easy to get, nothing to worry about.

On the other hand, love is a concept, a creation of the human mind, nonexistant, unnecessary, and therefore, nothing to worry about. The trick is to accept each of these truths simultaneously, thereby achieveing the level of wisdon of a saint, a saitn being one who can simultaneously embrace two seemingly contradictory truths.

I have a friend or family member who craves love more desperately than anyone i know, and because he lives in a relatively cold culture, doesn't get nearly as much as he needs, or wants, or thinks he needs, whichever.

He quite correctly believes that the best way to receive love is to give love, and to this end he gives as much, if not more love than anyone i know. But, alas, he does not get enough in return, at least, not enough to emotionally satisfy him, or whatever.

And perhaps partially because of this he is angry, full of anger, possibly the angriest person i have ever known. he keeps the anger well bottled up, but its there.... the anger might well have something to do with childhood, chemistry, and so forth, but, at least part of it, it seems to me, is that..

...he, my family member or friend, lives in a world which is not disposed to heap a whole helluva lotta love on folks, right up front. Because, you see, that's the way he delivers his love unto others - right up front.

Nobody is a stranger to my friend or family member. He loves everyone he encounters, like the perfect salesperson. and maybe...just maybe, since he is an american and lives in america, that is his problem...

..too much too soon. Too much love immediately after formal introduction to strangers - which can frighten people. I want to tell him to just relax, don't push it, and love will come, and, even if it doesn't, which it will, but even if love doesn't come in great enough quantity, so what, its all make believe anyway.

that, and plus, its everywhere, and easy to find, so just keep makufacturing it, because that's where it comes from...
