I LIVE in a neat, clean modest small town lower middle class neighborhood which has recently been invaded by a rather large number of cats. Beautiful, healthy looking cats, of all sizes, colors, and genders.
I have no earthly idea where they all came from. Someone must have had a litter nearby. One male and one female doth a kitten factory make. I've lived in this neighborhood for over senen years, and this has happened before, but never as extreme as the past few weeks. I keep wondering whether the phenomenon is in any way related to 12/21/12, or the fiscal cliff. Probably, somehow.
Altogether i kinda like it, because i like cats. Hell, so far I've adpeted two of them, or rather two of them have adpoted me,and it seems to be working out, so far. Right now there's another pretty little female hanging out on my front porch, so, who knows?
I heard somewhere thers is a growing catch, fis, and release movement with regard to stray american cats. Now that's an idea. instead of catch, then adopt out to good home or kill, its, catch, fix, and either adopt out to good home, or release back into the neighborhood in which they were caught.
What's wrong with having a population of stray neighborhood cats in american neighborhoods, particularly if ehty are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated. Better than putting them to death, correct? This program will eventually solve the stray cat problem all across the country.
Let's have a kill free america, and a new tradition of neighborhood togetherness by sharing stray cats, if any there happen to be. Particulalry since we already do this with squirrels, birds, and other animals.
"Noble be man, compassionate, and good" said goethe. and how true, especially of americans, with our prosperous generous american compassion. "Only by errors that really irk us do we advance". yes, again, goethe. we americans make mistakes, but we do not like them, and we correct them.
