Remember the Alamo

ON FOUR OCCASIONS  the american people have been angrily admonished to commit a tragic event to undimishable remembrance. they are, in chronological order, the alamo, the maine, pearl harbor, and the world trade center.

each time the american people responded splendidly.

by far, dear reader, the most glorious of the four was the alamo.

the maine was not an attack worthy of remembrance. it was an explosion, whether by accident or design, used as an excuse for war.

pearl harbor was bait.

the world trade center was a petty act of vengeance by  a group of thugs who had no real cause or future, organized by a petty tyrant who was a disgrace to his own illustrious father.

the victims of these three, the ones who died, had no choice. they were slaughtered in their innocence.

at the alamo, those who fought to the death for their beliefs had a chocie of whether to do it, and they decided to do it. davy crockett admitted that he was tempted to run; after all, the affair was of no direct concern to him, he was merely a tourist.

but he stayed and fought, for the freedom and independence of texas, for liberation from a petty tyrannical dictator.

always be sure you are right, then go ahead.

remember the alamo.
