Priorities United

RONALD REAGAN, who tended to not make highly intelligent comments, once said, highly intelligently, that if the human race were suddenly threatened by unfriendly extraterrestrial aliens,
we would unite to save the world, or at least try to.

reagan saw that conflict is, ultimately, a matter of choice.

instead of uniting to fight off extraterrestrials, which, for all we know, we might have to one day do, why not unite for an equally urgent cause; to save this planet from us. we could put at least seven billion new trees in the ground now, for instance. how many more trees would be required to remove enough of the carbon in the atmosphere to reverse global warming? seven billion might not be a bad start.

we can start sucking water out of the ocean, purifying it, and maving it inland to areas which need it. this would cost a lot of money, but would be worth it, and not as expensive as one might think, the city of miami florida does it now; if they can, so can the rest of us.

slow down the rising sea levels, add fresh water to our desert lands.

then of course the most important step is to unite as a people, worldwide, we the poor masses, and insist that we switch from fossil to solar energy. it can be done, and must be done.

environmental salvation and space exploration combined should be adequate to bring us all together, wouldn't you think? we can pay for it all by converting military resources into environmental salvation and space exploration - development resources.

add the above to the occupy wall street movement's platform, and we're off and running.
