Treating Mental Illness Among the Righteous Religious right

A FORMER FRIEND of mine announced to me that she has discovered that Michelle Obama is a man, and can prove it. I remain skeptical. She further asserted that wearing a face mask, which she refuses to do, harms one by forcing one to inhale one's own carbon monoxide.That ended our friendship.This goes far beyond casual insult and a personal preference. This is nothing but hateful, vicious, vile racism disguised, and complete disregard for the safety of others. A retired teacher, I have dealt with more than my fair share of mental illness, mostly among administrators, have done all I can, and have gone home to relax, for good. For sanity and simplicity, let us stipulate that we exhale carbon dioxide, and that carbon monoxide emerges from auto tailpipes, and that we inhale it only when inside a closed garage, when we want to painlessly kill ourselves. Basic chemistry is an elective, and you can hardly expect someone who cannot tell a  woman from a man to have studied it. Slandering Michelle Obama and refusing to wear a mask in the midst of a highly contagious pandemic which has killed nearly a quarter million Americas is a matter of far greater consequence than ignorance of basic chemistry. To hate someone so terribly as to want to insult her in a humiliating manner, and to deliberately spread disease in the cause of facial vanity and comfort are both manifestations of a form of mental illness currently rampaging unchecked through America's conservative community, spreading alarmingly fast.The obvious psychological pathology quite possibly is a form of brain damage, perhaps self inflicted unintentionally with blunt cranial trauma with a Bible or rifle butt, in a fit of religious, right wing zeal. The thus afflicted are numerous enough to have elected Trump, and to have spread their vitriolic poison all across America's fruited plain, and on to international destinations. Donald Trump, out of the hospital and presumably out of danger, strides into the White House, turns around, and surrounded by people, takes his mask off. Once again, he begins spewing verbal garbage, something about not being afraid of a little old virus, and that, well, hell, as the great leader of a great nation, he simply had to put himself at risk for the sake of the American people he loves so dearly. now, he is invincible, and we should all be as brave as he. He also begins, once again, to spread sickness and disease by breathing near other people without a mask. Covid 19 has infected and affected his brain, and now, not only does he think he's a stable genius who is making America great again, just the way it used to be . He thinks he is immune to the virus, which hem might not be, he thinks the people standing next to him either will not catch it or he doesn't care if they do, and most alarming of all, he thinks he is God.
