Trump, Speaking Freely

MORE THAN ELEVEN HUNDRED PEOPLE have been convicted of various crimes assocated with Donald Trump's isurrection of January 6th, 2021. Nearly unanimously they still insist that they did on that day exactly what they thought Donald Trump wanted them to, and told them to do. They went to the Capitol and fought like hell, fought for a lie told by a criminal president. Now, many of these misled people have had a change of heart, and accepts the reality that they were duped by a con artist, and are remorseful for their bad behavior and bad citizenship. All the relevant ciches are true. Karma is indeed a bitch, and what goes around comes around. Take your pick. Now, facing three separate indictments by three separate federal grand juries involving dozens of alleged felonies, Trump and his crackpot attorneys, in seeming desperation, are resorting to blatantly fatuous defenses and counter accusations. Trump, laughably, characteristically, is playing the part of the victim, the victim of some amorphous, fabricated conspiracy of his political rivals. The gaggle of craskpot attorneys, as Mike Pence put it, is insisting that Trump has done nothing wrong, and has merely exercise his free speech rights, like all Americans. In reality, nobody is accusing Trump of speaking. They, the prosecutors, are accusing him of stealing top secet government documents, of inciting an insurrection against the United States government, of plotting and orchestrating an attempted overthrow of the United States government, among other crimes. All of the many charges against Trump are supported by audio and video evidence, and sworn testimony of witnesses. All the cases are open and shut, as we say. The forthcoming indictment, from Goergia, is based upn the now famous tape recording of Trump on the telephone, trying to coerce the Georgia Secretary of State into "finding eleven thousand seven hundred and eighty votes". Election tampering, caught on tape. With each new indictment Trump's poplularty among his cult followers increases. It is conceiveable that if Trump can manage to commit more crimes between now and November, 2024, and arrange to become the target of ever more indictments, that his popularity will grow to such a degree that he will be elected president for life, Imperator. Americans have always loved their home grown criminals. Al Capone, Jesse James, Pretty boy Floyd, Bonnie and Clyde, all achieved a high degree of positive notoriety, with tens of thousands of good Americans rooting for their criminal success. Like Trump, they were seen as noble freedom fighters against an oppressive, all pervasive, evil power structure and government establishment. Ultimately, the justice system prevailed, and they met a similar fate, a fate which awaits Donald Trump. As for his supporters, they will at length be forced to find new criminals to whom to give their loyalty and support. We can be assured of their ability to do so.
