Artificially Intelligencing

A.I. is attracting a lot of attention nowadays, with good reason. It is advancing so rapidly that people, particualrly the people who invent it, work on it, and understand it, are, so to speak, freaking out. Again, with good reason. They are afriad that Artificial intelligence will become so powerful so soon that it will take over the planet, take control of the human species, and, wel, who knows? Maybe it will destroy us all, to put us out of our misery. What's going to happen is that more and more ostensibly human beings, made out of plastic and metal, will be walking around, until artificial humans control everything, and arrive at a choice: is it worthwhile any longer to allow the old fashioned flesh and blood people to exist? When artificial intelligence learns how to maintain, repair, and reproduce itself, what would it need us for? Unless we an invent some sor of "workaround". One major problem nwo is trying to decide whether term papers, essays, and writing assignments in general were writen by A.I. or by students. The obvious answer is to make the students write all essays and term papers in class, with pen and paper. Or maybe that's too sensible. Computers, artificial intelligence learned how to beat the best human chess players years ago, after slow years of computer processing and software improvement. Now any smart phone can beat any chess player who ever lived. and now is capable of writing good essays and term papers, and many other things. And the learning, the improvement of artificial intelligence is advancing at rocket speed. It may be that flesh and blood humans never explore deep into space, out beyond our solar system. That achievement might be left to metal and plastic humans, who can "live" in space for millions of years, without any need to be protected from temperatures of vacuums, or radiation. A deep space flight manned by robots could last for millions of years. A planet inhabited by artificial humans could be much more easily managed, without any special proection needed from weather or disease. Suddenly, I begin to feel a sense of obselensce, of being merely temporary. My only option is to enjoy it while I can...
