Does America need to Reconfigure?

THE UNITED STATES of America may well be the most hated nation in history, even considering such ostensible candidates as Nazi Germany, the empire of Ghengis Khan, and the Roman Empire. Napoleonic France and Stalinist Russia might also deserve consideration as the world's most hated nations. But let's face it; right now, there is a lot of antipathy towards the United States around the world, and has been for awhile. Surely it is not an exaggeration to say that. Naturally, anybody as big, strong, culturally "energetic" and visible as the U.S.A. is going to draw a lot of attention and much response. Everybody's heard of the United states, and everybody has a strong opinion about it, one way or the other. According to self serving patriotic but misguided conservative Americans, the reason why America is hated is that people around the world are jealous of America's wealth, success, and overall glory and grandeur, believe it or not. Alarmingly, they seem to actually believe that garbage. My fellow Americans, the sad truth is that we are not hated because we have democracy, freedom, human rights, or money. We are hated because we the American people, by virtue of allowing our government to do it, deprive people in other countries of democracy, freedom, human rights, and money. We do this especially in third world, poor countries whose natural resources are coveted by our huge powerful corporations, which operate all over the world. We Americans do it by dropping bombs, using chemical warfare (napalm in viet nam, for exampple), by sending our formidable military all over teh world, not to support, to enforce our national intersts. The hatred against America has given rise to terrorism. The one key fact that the so called "war on terror" fails to take into consideration is that using military forces to invade and conquer countries where terrorism organizes will not stop terrorism, it will motivate more of it. The only way to stop it is to convince other countries to stop it within their own countries, under their own laws, not American bombs. Nine One One shocked and filled all Americans with so much grief that for a time most of us wanted to use our powrful military to conquer any country where terrorists live. Finally, we came to our senses, and started using our intellects rather than our emotions for guidance. The American people are smart, smart enough to know when they are being lied to by their own government, which,essentially, is constantly. Before you know it, we the American people will start insisting that we the American empire stop trying to control the entire world, and concern itself with problems within our own borders. It might be a while though.
