Bringing Ted Cruz Down

A FRIEND OF MINE, who dislikes the politics of Texas Senator Ted Cruz about as much as I do, which is very much, sent me an email with a link to an article about Cruz. The article said that there may be a problem for Cruz, concerning financial dealings or relationships he had on a Caribbean Island which he failed to report on his senatorial campaign disclosure statement, which by law must be accurate and complete. Then, in yet another online article, the headline said "Cruz may be in hot water", which sounds a bit more ominous. My first reaction was to smell blood, and feel a sense of impending, unexpected windfall. That soon passed, and I started trying to figure out what's going on, for real. Now, we'll all have to agree that just recently Senator Cruz behaved in a way which angered a lot of people, namely, his political enemies, such as yours truly. Now, suddenly, he's being investigated, maybe as a prelude to imminent prosecution and persecution.Rather interesting timing, isn't it? Almost as if some very angered party or group of parties had decided to conduct a witch hunt against Cruz, a stab in the dark, or essentially to throw some excrement against the wall to see if any of it will stick, in order to bring down Cruz. I swear, the way things are now, it almost seems as if no matter who you are, dirt can be dug up against you, what with our speed of light information sharing capabilities, our legalistic society which makes everything against the law, and the insane manner with which we, as a culture, throw a constant stream of temptation to break the law in everyone's face. So Cruz may indeed be guilty of withholding information from the government he so hoped to, soon did join. And, in all fairness, anbyody who has any financial transactions or relationships whatsoever on any island in the Caribbean - is simply up to no good. One cannot do business in the Caribbean without being a violater of or fugitive from or avoider of some American law.I learned that by reading John Grisham. But are we perhaps going a bit overboard with our "got cha" politics, and our "got cha" media, and our "got cha" culture? Have we nothing better to do? Most everybody in the United States Congress is a millionaire, and most of them probably have employed questionable financial strategy at some time or another. Like, whoopie doo! Personally, I have no interest in trying to bring down Ted Cruz merely becasue I happen to think he is a great and powerful force of evil. I mean, so what? Who isn't, in the republican party? (just kidding). If Cruz is guilty of something, fine, so be it. But if its some nit picky little detail that some lawyer overlooked, then, let's forget about it and move on. Cruz'll have plenty of opportunities in the future to bring himself down, like, talking about nothing all night for no reason, and boring the pants off America, as he seems inclined to do. We really need not go out of our way to help him.
