LIKE a bad penny, Vladimir Putin is - "he's baaack!" - in Russia, to the apparent dismay of a large minority of russians, many of whom have been out on the streets in big cities, protesting. There have been accusations that the election was dishonest and rigged, which would not be surprising... because here in america they almost certainly are.
anything you russians can do, we americans can do better. remember, we made it to the moon first, and we had the first president elected by supreme court politics and hanging "chads"; small pieces of paper attached to paper ballots. (see election 2000, Bush vs Gore).
in america, dead people are allowed to vote, especially in big cities, and sometimes people who win elections actually receive more votes than the number cast. details, details...
back in russia, putin assumes office for the second time, grover cleveland style (see Cleveland, Grover, U.S. president). Last time around putin's government seemed to have a secretive, mysterious, police agency sort of style to it, and that is what the protestors probably fear now again.

Isn't there a better way to protest other than getting out in the streets with the gestapo? isn't the internet the next frontier for freedom? The Truthless Reconciler never met a protest or revolution that it didn't like, and right about now there's a bunch of protest and revolution going on all over the world.
all across europe the workers are on the verge of revolting against their having to pay the price for government fiscal lunacy, rather than making the rich and powerful pay for it. in the middle east, syrian freedom fighters will reinforce the importance of persistence in the minds of all youthful freedom fighters in the region.
the middle east people shall rise up again, and the arab spring shall bloom! america is on the verge of massive upheaval; if the economy collapses yet again, beware the teeming masses. there is a limit to which the billions of oppressed humans will allow the rich and powerful to continue getting richer and more powerful. the great worldwide internet driven revolution may be just beginning...
