Early Retirement On Your Terms

ON THE MSN HOMEPAGE appeared a brilliant, one paragraph article suggesting that if you are old, alone, and penniless, like many americans appear to be on their way to becoming, you might consider the idea of retiring in a federal minimum security prison.

for real. check it out yourself. whoever wrote it is brilliant, and suggested but didn't answer a question which deserves answering; is this a good idea, or is it an indication of the sorry state of american society?

the answer, of course, is that it is indeed a good idea, and the very fact that it is a good idea is a clear indication, absolute proof, that  america is a very troubled place. in america we put more people in prison than any other country, per capita.

federal minimum security prisons, like the one martha stewart did time in, are actually rather "nice". room and board, health care, social activities, recreation, and all that. better than living on the street, or in a nursing home, eh?

as the baby boomer generation gets elderly, a high percentage of those born between  nineteen forty six and nineteen sixty four will be broke and alone. a little insider trading can take care of all that. of course, its hard to commit financial crimes if you're broke. so we'll have to think of something else.

a nation of prisoners, and a nation of elderly poor, in need of assistance. its a match made in heaven! or maybe somewhere else....
