WE Must Accept

IF EVER WE ARE TO reverse global warming, and repair the damage already done, we will need to convince enough people of its reality to summon forth the popular will to act. And, just to be on the safe side, we need to get everybody on board.

 Maybe We should erect global warming into a new religion, a religion which says that the end is near, unless we do something about it. It might just be the movement we need to address the problem.There are at least three basic categories of disbelief about global warming, equally ludicrous.

The most common, and most pernicious, is the diverse theory fallacy; the misguided idea that, since everybody has a different opinion about global warming, since even the so colled experts can't agree, we still really don't know for sure what's going on.

That's nonsense, of course. Ask any professor of biology, physics, or chemistry at any university anywhere in the world. There seems to be an emerging consenssus, you'll find. There's more than that: there's universal agreement by people with brains.

Global warming is a hoax, says rush limbaugh and his ilk, perpetrated deliberately by liberal democrats in america for the purpose of creating an excuse to transfer political power from the people to the government.

Millions of global warming hoaxers, united in perpetrating the biggest scam in history. Quite a conspiracy, eh? In other words, the millions of people who say they believe in global warming are faking it, they just want political power. There's no way limbaugh can actually believe that.

Rush is not insane,. But he does know how to stir up arguments and anger and hatred and attract attention thereby. Bu tis it unfortunate how many people really do seem to believe that global warming and climate change are basically being "politicized".

Let's hope like heck that it is politicized, and mighty fast. Anybody who does not accept the reality of it should be politically marginalized, how's that? A lady on CNN eivdently hinted that the asteroid which is passing by earth might somehow be connected to global warming.

Rush made fun of her. He should have. People like her only serve to confuse the already confused and uninformed. Then too, some people believe in global warming but believe that it is caused by the sun, or by an evil consortium of powerful elite. These people aren't helping matters either.

The science is surprisingly simple. You just measure the amount of carbon in the air, year after year, measure the temperature increase, and figure out how much carbon is put there by human activity - and you have your answer, the answer none of us wants to accept, but must. We all must.
