THE STATE OF VIRGINIA is considering printing its own money, establishing its own currency system, just in case almighty american dollar collapses. The House of Delegates, half of the Virginia legislature, has already voted to approve the new state currency.
IT is unclear whether the state will go ahead and print the money, which will undoubetedlly be quite historical, dignified, and attractive, just to be prepared in case of american economic collapse, or does approval of the plan simply mean that in the event of american collapse, the virginia money will be printed.
It hasn't happened yet; only half the virginia legislative branch has voted for it, and it would have to be signed by the governor. Presumably the U.S. Dept of Justice would file suit in federal court to prevent it. That failing, the american army would invade the common wealth, using patriot missiles, the aircraft carrier ronald reagan, and obama's drones. We'd win, big.
Remember, obamadrones are now empowered to go anywhere, and kill any american who is a terrorist, according to executive order. Undermining U.S. currency by issuing alternative currency is treason, punishable by drone attack.
Yes, it would be illegal, this bizarre virginia plan. You would expect something like this in a place like rebellious texas, but not stately patriotic conservative old dominion virginia. virginia was loyal to the confederacy, loyal to the united states, and first and foremost, loyal to itself.
A collapse of the american dollar would entail runaway inflation, and widespread loss of confidence in the current reserve currency of the world. It seems unlikely, without catastrophic world events, like asteroid impact or nuclear world war, but, as they say, stranger things have happened.
The new virginia, surrounded and swallowed up by much stonger currencies on world markets, beset with uncertainty, a certain degree of confusion, and mistrust in th old dominion itself, might not do so well.
confederate dollars never did worth a damn, most southerneres kept using american currency during the civil war, and texas currency, during the republic ear, 1836-1845 collapsed right out of the shoot, crippling the texan economy so much aht texas decided to join the united states after all.
Common sense tells us that sooner or later, there will be a world wide currency. But if and when it happens, it will need to have th support of the people of planet earth, or it won't work. The best guess is that neither would this virginia state currency, not for very long.
