DR BENJAMIN CARSON, the esteemed surgeon and author, has generated quite a drama here lately by talking about politics in front of president obama when he wasn't supposed to, and advocating simple, conservative health care solutions.
His remark that everyone born into this world should be given three things: birth certificate, electronic medical file, and a "healthcare savings account" served as the center of his ideas. This healthcare savings account would stay with one one's entire life, and could be willed.
These accounts would be funded by either the government, the account holder, employers, or friends, family, and neighbors. No matter how you slice it, the government is involved, in everything. That's the hell of it in a country wherein the people and the government are the same thing.
In a true democracy, we the prople are the government, at least, we say we are. capitalism and socialism merge. your private basement business is government business, because you, whether you like it or not, are the government.
And we do believe in democracy here in america, do we not? we do believe that each of us is a part of the gevernment, even in this cynical jaded age of negative nabobbing (see: spiro T agnew, US VP, 1969-1973).
Whether health care is governemnt or private matters not. What matters is whether it works, and we'll be the judge of that. Why not have some of each? Why not have both? More choice! Let obamacare compete in the vast free market like everybody else!
Anybody who wants to give me a healthcare savings account next time i am born into this world, feel free.
anybody who wants to contribute funds to it, any government, corp, or private citizen, go for it. Anybody who wants to establish private free market health care options to compete with whatever other people establish cooperatively, knock yourself out. The more health care the merrier!
