The Wackos Were Right All Along

PRESIDENT OBAMA made a big splash with the environmental wacko crowd during his second term swearing in speech a couple of weeks ago, waxing dramatic in his description of the various global warming caused phenomena which are currently observable, and likely to increase in the future without our taking drastic action.

The president really sounded dramatic as he orated the horror of out of control wildfires, horrific powerful storms, extreme drought, and so forth. Enough to scare anyone, which might have been his intent.

The question now is, exactly what does he plan to do about it? And, what more will he say about climate destruction during his upcoming state of the union speech? If its as important as he said last time, surely the topic warrants further speechificationary mention.

Obama tried to come on strong as an environmental crusader early in his first term, during the first two years, before the conservative, pro profit at any cost, including the environment republicans captured the house o reps. It was called "cap and trade", a plan to limit everyone's spewing of carbon into the atmosphere, and to allow companies to buy, sell, and trade carbon emission limits.

It was really a clever idea, still is, and might really help the development of green energy by making it more expensive to not so development...but no, it would cost money, cut profits, and limit dividends to shareholders. albeit temporarily, at oil companies and many other big businesses, so, no go.

If only the short shighted narrow minded conservative bastards would realize that short term sacrifice is necessary in order to create a cleaner, healthier world in which corporations would once again be free to seek and achieve huge profits, as harry truman might have said, were he in obama's place.

Truman never hesitated to use words like "hell", "manure", and "bastard", but in his day, the media turned a blind eye to presidential indescretions; now, of course, it highlights, and even invents them.

Truman's wife, bess, was once approached by a proper lady at a proter tea, who said "your husband uses the word "manure" too often. Can't you get him to stop saying that word"? To whcih bess replied "it took me twenty years to get him to start using that word".

"Give 'em hell Harry"  quipped "I don't give 'em hell. I give 'em the truth, and they think its hell". The sometimes foul mouthed Harry Truman couldn't survive in modern politics, and neither would jefferson or linclon, and that's a damned shame...today, honest politicians perish.

..but at least  people who sound the alarm concerning environmental deterioration are less often called "environmental wackos" , because the conservative B 'ards who used to call them that are starting, belatedly, sluggishly, to grasp the unfortunate fact that the wackos were right all along.
