On December 20 of last year I called the cable TV company and asked them to disconnect my cable. The pleasant young man assured me he would. But it never happened, at least not yet. Presumably it will soon. I'll flip on one of my TVs, and....
..there will be....static.....and that will be fine..but it hasn't happened yet.
Every few years it seems I get fed up with television programming, so I call it quits. Then, eventually, for some reason, I come back (to TV).
The Kardashians, Sex In the City, Desperate Housewives...these are programs I've never seen, not once..but they are, essentially, the reason for my canceling this time.
When it gets to the point where the Weather Channel is the best thing on, because every other channel has beautiful blondes in emotional distress...
Too much button punching on the remote. Too much dissatisfaction. Way too much advertising. Better to be active on the internet, than inactive in front of a TV, eh?
Each day I watch less TV, as I continue my cycle. I'm sure someday I'll come back to it. When I do, I hope its better, in terms of intellectual stimulation, than it is now.
Television is a great invention, in the right hands. Currently television is owned and controlled by our corporate masters, rather than by we the people. And thus today:
Television is intended to seduce us into being the corporate puppets that we are.
Television works like a charm. Its the primary corporate tool of control.
