Symbiosis

Except for Ron Paul, all the republican presidential candidates are trying hard to show the most allegience to conservatism, including Mitt Romney, who is the least conservative of the crew, but currently the frontrunner, who appears headed for the nomination.

Mitt gave a speech the other day in which, in his zeal to out-conservative the other conservatives, proudly proclaimed , roughly  "in my administration solid conservative principles will triumph over all, and liberalism will be seen for the failed ideology that it is, and discarded."  In other words, Mitt promises to exterminate liberalism, presumably for all time.

So who's gonna volunteer to explain the world to Mitt? To explain to him that liberalism and conservatism are relative terms, which will always be used to describe differences in opinion and to categorize ideologies, and both terms will always exist, they need each other, they compliment each other, one is not possible without the other.

Mitts needs to understand that. Mitt will not only not eliminate liberalism, he really wouldn't want to, if he thought about it. Today's liberalism is tomorrow's conservatism. They compliment each other.
