Sarah Palin; A Lady Who Is Never Alone
SARAH PALIN IS A LADY who seems to very much enjoy getting people to pay attention to her. She never turns down a chance to be interviewed, or to appear on camera. When she ran for vice president, she seemed to be having the time of her life, until the election was over, and the cameras went away. Then, it was back to her day job as governor of the far away and media challenged state of Alaska. But it just wasn't quite the same, going all the way back to Alaska, after the adrenaline rush of a national political campaign. The cameras were gone, the press conferences were so, like, small. So she quit her day job, came south, hopped on a bus and did a splashy book signing tour. Anything to keep those cameras rolling, and the handshakes coming! What is her official position now, roving ambassador for the tea party ultra conservatives? Whatever it takes to stay relevant. Sarah Palin is a womwn who is very much aware of what she looks like, in a culture in which a woman's most important asset is still her personal appearance, even after all the smoke has cleared from the battle over chauvinism and shallow values. The biggest clue to her vanity is her resume as former "miss Alaska", or some such narcissistic nonsense. Attractive women in politics run the risk of being labeled "airheads" if they don't throw some vocabulary around, and engage in a fairly steady storm of thoughtful analysis, pseudo or otherwise. She does neither. But she displays an astute awareness of the physical appearance of other people. When asked whether New Jersey Governor Chris Christied would make a good candidate for president, Sarah replied that his "extreme" physical appearance would be an issue. As to what she means by that, the best guess is that since the governore is corpulant, his chances for presidential election would be diminished. William Howard Taft did well enough, in an era when obesity was rather uncommon. Palin the pageanteer also said that Hillary Clinton was treated unfairly an account of her looks. Although ther is absolutey nothing unpleasant about Hillary's looks, leave it to Sarah to take an indirect shot at a political opponent, and another attractive woman. Sarah is the sort who never goes to the powder room alone.
