Americans & Their Good Taste
"NO ONE IS FORTUNATE enough to escape either praise or blame", said Goethe, in reference to human nature. We all perhaps need a little of both, but not too much. Getting or giving too much of one or the other, about anything, is unbalanced and unrealistic. One valid criticism of Americans, for instance, might be, in general, that when they speak they speak as if every word they utter is the gospel truth, and beyond dispute. But the Americans are, nonetheless, the greatest people in the world, notwithstanding their penchant for self absorbed arrogance, if for no other reason than the following; surveys indicate that one in ten Americans prefers dogs to people. Same thing goes for cats. For verification, contact the Harvard school of sociology. And, to make things even better, most people who are told about this statistic are surprised that only ten percent claim to feel that way, and they further express the belief that the percentage must be higher than that, and that some people are probably answering the survey dishonestly. On on one, and in private, alsmot any American will tell you that he or she prefers dogs and cats to people, particularlty other Americans. So it may be, in reality, that ten in ten Americans, one hundred percent, prefer dogs and cats to people. And because of this, we Americans are absolutely a beautiful, wonderful people, because we have good sense, we have good taste. We understand what beautiful and sublime creatures dogs and cats are, and what miserable wretches homo sapiens be. Bless the American people, and their discerning nature!
