Choosing Our Tyranny and Saving Ourselves From It
ON THE INTERNET, which covers the whole world, there has been some discussion of the high liklihood that Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to great lengths to stifle opposition to himself. I saw these reports on MSN and AOL. both American internet providers; one can only speculate whether the Russian people themselves, on their internet providers, have been given the same information. One wonders. The information itself is rather convincing, providing names of political candidates and dates of their disrupted activities, all opponents of Putin, whose opposition was harassed and suppressed. Would there ever come a time when it is time for an "anybody but Putin" movement in Russia? Let us affirm the fact throughout civilized humandom; changes in leadership are good!Don't we Americans know it! By the time our presidents leave office, in America, we are ready for them to leave. Every last one of them. And this is a good thing. Nno matter how great a leader's leadership, no matter how beloved, no one should ever remain in a position of power for very long. Obama, Putin, bless them, and may they hand over power to new people soon, to facilitate democracy. We the American people are fickle, hard to please, ready to argue, and ready to rise up and revolt against our own government at first hint of a tax hike. Any trace of a tax hike is tyranny to Americans. Americans don't know what tyranny is. What they revolted against in 1776 was hardly tyranny. Remote tyranny, at most. But the American revolution allowed tne American wealthy to be in control, instead of the English wealthy. In America, we prefer the tyranny of corporate control to government control, thank you very much. No matter what form of tyranny people live beneath, they have chosen to live beneath it, beacause they have not chosen to die opposing it.
