Using Ketchup, Even If
I LOVE KETCHUP, catsup, or whatever we call it. Always have. Always will. Only belatedly, like, the other day, did it dawn on me that ketchup is killing me. To the extent that I use it, ketchup is killing me. I have never read the bottle, but it must be loaded with salt and sugar. Tomatoes, salt, sugar, and a couple other things, I suppose. But what can all this extra salt and sugar do for you, other than promote diabetes and hypertension? Both of which, by the way, the United States is now having an epidemic. If memory serves, ketchup is exclusively a big business thing. There are two huge corporations which manufacture and sell it: Hunts and Heinz. Perhaps they are in reality the same company! Either that, or they hate each other's guts. Have either of these corporate giants ever thought about ketchp damaging millions of people like me, and have they ever thought about doing anything about it? Absolutely not. The purpose of corporations is to make a profit, not to promote good public health. What would ketchup taste like without salt or sugar, or with less of it, or some substitute for it? Or has that already been taken care of? (maybe I should read the label). So far, I feel good. A little hypertension, but no sign of diabetes. So, I'll continue to use ketchup. I don't even know whether people in other countries use it. If not, I would recommend a cheeseburger, a pile of french fries, with ketchup on both, to any non American who has never tried this tasty little cholestoral bundle of a classic American meal. Its delicious. And I'll use ketchup with the sugar and the salt, even if its not good for me.
