Who Knows

THERE JUST AREN'T enough wealthy white christian conservatives to make the republican party as strong as it would like to be, which is strong enough to eliminate all traces of cooperative economics, cultural or religious diversity from the land.

A republican or tea party gathering looks like a KKK meeting, sans sheets.  Democratic gatherings look like the united nations. And how did we end up with this strange situation in which political conservatism ended up in bed with the protestant faith?

go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give unto the poor, said jesus. The poor must help themselves, and give up laziness, poor decision making, and stupidity, so that the wealthy can keep their hard earned money, say the american christian conservatives.

Our conservative christian republicans might help by acknowledging that all religions have merit, all eleven housand of them, that progressive taxation is fair, that it is possible to be poor without being at fault. and that it really does not matter what president obama's religion is.

Perhaps it would help if american athiests, and there are millions of them, would all sign a document pledging not to try to convert politically conservative christians to atheism.

Now might be a good time for victorious democrats to announce that they intend to resume calling themselves "liberals", instead of hiding from the term, but that they do not despise the wealthy for merely being wealthy, and do not wish to punish them.

If we could all move just a smidgen towards moderation and open mindedness, who knows...
