Moving To China

LIKE ANY DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST worth his salt, I strognly favor a wealth tax for millionaires and billionaires, much greater economic equalty, labor unions, higher pay for workers, cooperative ownerehip of business enterprises, pofit sharing, a steeply progresive system of taxation, a strong, well funded social safety net, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicade - you name it, if it is socialistic, I support it. Surveys consistently indicate that a majority of Americans support all those things too, as long as you don't call them "socialism". Socialism is a dirty word in America, made dirty by decades of corporate sponsored political propaganda and conservative talk radio and other rght wing media. When espousing socialism, always employ the term "democratic socialism", to distinguish between what we want and already have much of in America, and authoritarian state imposed socialism in places like China. So when somebody said that there shouldn't be any billionaires, I fully agreed, but somebody else did not, and responded reflexively and idiotically thus: "why don't you move your sorry ass to China"? Raise the red flag for the apparent presence of a far rght wing poorly educated Trump supporter - type. Like sharks sighted just offshore. Oh, their fatuous idiocy. Getting rid of billionaires by taxing them into a lower, more reasonable level of personal wealth does not, repeat does not, qualify you for relocation to China. What it qualifies you for is relocation to civilized countries in Eurpoe, like Denmark, Sweden - in fact, like just about any European country, where democratic socialism is the system of choice. China does not have socialism. China doesn't even have communism anymore, although it says it does. What it has is autoritarian one party state control of corporate capitalism, the corporations owned ad operated by the government. This is much more accurately termed "fascism" although China doesn't call it that either. China, it will be noted, has a venerable long standing tradition of not calling things what they really are, but instead thinking up cute, pleasant, positive sounding names for things and sticking with the misnomers, after the fashion of Russia. The one party in power in China is the still so called "communist party", a name long become a misnomer, an anachronism. Communism is what China used to have, agrarian based, state enforced economic equality, which was never really equal, but close enough, certainly cloesr than now, wherein the gap between rich and poor is America-ike, growing more so by the hour, with a small ruling elite wealthy class governing more than a billion very poor people, altough there is and has been for several decades a rising middle class in the ancient kingdom. So slowly, however, is this much trumpeted middle class coming into being these days that its rise has become nearly impperceptible, whereas back in the nineteen eighties and nineties it was indeed rising fast. But back to our right wing friend who thinks that anyone esposing democratic socialism in America should relocate his or her sorry ass to China; where we should truly relocate to is, as I mentioned above, Europe, or for that matter said sorry ass might as well remain here in these United States, for, shocking revalation that it might be to your average conservative, socialism of the democratic kind has alredy long since, since FDR, reared it beautiful head in America, has become deeply insinuated within the politial system and economy. It isn't going anywhere, so neither should our sorry democratic socialist asses, and it supports the inherently unstable and volatile corporate free market capialism just beautifully. Start taxing the millionaires and billionaires, start paying the workers, and boom, just like that, you have a New Deal fully dealt.
