Bringing Back God, by Force

AMONG THE MORE PATHETIC aspects of the latest mass murder is watching conservatives play the blame game, while simultanesouly chastising liberals for "politicizing" the nightmare. Into the spotlight steps former arkansas governor and presidential candidate mike huckabee, whose lust for attention led him to pursue a career as a television comedian-commentator.

Once famous, it is apparently almost impossible to give up fame without a fight. the ego boost is   too great, the drug too alluring. Say something, anything, no matter how shallow, no matter how banal, as long as it sounds adequately pious.

The attention and fame will surely follow closely behind. Before he ever opened his sanctimonious mouth you knew huckabee would never quit grasping until he hit upon some means of blaming liberals for what happened.

He succeeded. The reason why the tweny year old monster killed twenty eight people is that God has systematically been removed from the classroom. Undoubtedly the gunman, between rounds, screamed to himself "bring God back inside this building or I'll keep squeezing the trigger!

Not just this latest mass murder, but all other mass murders are to be blamed on the eviction of the lord from american public education, as if all the killers had formed a secret organization dedicated to forcing the reentry of the almighty.

Everytime some deranged lonely outcast sends a few folks prematurely to heaven, god is being avenged, and only because the liberals have made it all necessary. That someone who thinks like this ever was elected to political office, or was ever allowed to appear on television, is yet another testament to the pervasive intellectual vacuity that is american conservatism, and culture.

Huckabee evidently finds it easy to overlook the fact that God can never be removed from any public school, because those who enter public school buildings carry God within their hearts, minds, and souls. What we have eliminated from public schools, by virtue of a supreme court decision in 1962, is a two minute (or less) ritual in which everyone in the class prays in unison, not God. The next step would be to persuade huckabee and his ilk to carry at least a modicum of intellectual substance,  integrity, and reason within themselves - anywhere.
