NASTY RUMOR HAS IT THAT THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF PORNOGRAPHY ON THE INTERNET. With a billion and a half christians in the world, a billion moslems, and all sorts of other fine religious traditions, how can this be? There must be a small group of pornographers in some secluded hornet's nest of sin who are ruining the purity of the internet for us, the moral majority. You gotta love the term "moral majority" in all its glorious meaninglessness. Thank you dick nixon. You left a positive legacy after all. With regard to net porn, it turns out there is indeed a great deal of it; at one point it was estimated that as much as half the internet was pornographic, but, whatever it is, its a lot, almost enough to make you think that porn is a very widespread human characteristic, rather than the work of a diabolical few. Almost enough to suggest that females tend toward exhibitionism, and males towards voyeurism. The truth hurts. And don't you just love the logic which says that we must not take guns away from good citizens just because a few crazies commit mass murder? As if we are not, each and every one of us, just a bit, a tiny bit crazy...and lest we forget that all crazies were, at one time, sane, just like the rest of us good gun carrying citizens? they were, you know. Today's good citizens are tomorrow's crazy mass murderers. Or how about this, for flawed thinking? "The media, and higher education, have been taken over by a gang of liberals, in an obviously organized, insidious fashion." We've all heard that one. They just can't accept the idea that places where intelligent educated people congregate are heavily liberal, or that people who study current events in detail, such as journalists, might not always be conservative. We refuse to accept the truth only because we would perish if we did accept it, according to a paraphrased Goethe. We can struggle along in our illusions, or accept that we call possess all traits, unlimited potential. Since life is so short, said goethe, should we not travel it together? Welcome to the club, fellow purveyor of porn and potential mass murderer!
