Priorities

America's infrastructure is falling apart. At long last, this disaster is being discussed. The numbers are nightmarish. Bridges, highways, water and sewer systems, electrical grid, all needing to be replaced.

On this website are many references to the "American Empire", and the possibility of liquidating same. Liquidation is asset conversion. All the effort and energy it takes to maintain American military installations all over the world could be used for something else, like rebuilding the infrastructure. Jesse Jackson once pointed out that if we keep spending our treasure protecting what we have, we will eventually have nothing left to protect.

It is amazing how much we Americans invest in entertainment. Our best entertainers are the best paid people on the planet.  On average Americans spend a huge part of their income on entertainment. Spending money on bridge and road repair simply isn't as sexy.

Infrastructure, health, and education should come first, defense and entertainment should take a back seat. Instead, many Americans argue, inexplicably, that we spend too much money on education.

Something like seventy per cent of humanity lives near the ocean. Consider the cost of relocating them as the sea level rises. Consider the strain on human resources cause by hurricans, tornados, droughts, and floods.Throw in health care, infrastructure repair, and education, and the bill is quite high. Can we afford a bloated military budget and celebrity entertainment extravaganza ?
