Our Ranting Authoritarian, Trump

Donald Trump, as he approaches the two month mark in his second presidency, is in full ranting authoritarian mode, weaving his constant effusion of lies into an extended false narrative, glorifying himself and his indispensable leadership. His interminable campaign speech at the Justice Department yesterday was pure MAGA propaganda pep rally. Trump intends to use the D.O.J as his personal mafia, his tool for exacting retribution on his perceived enemies, presumably with withering investigations and legal action, including harrassment. In his amazingly long and dishonest screed, Trump reiterated the fictional nonsense that the Biden Department of Justice was politized by Biden, was out to get Trump, an that such investigations as the one which ensued when Trump stole thousands of top secret documents from the government, claimed he didnt have them, then refused to return them, until an FBI SWAT Team raided his house and got most of them, accept for whatever documents Trump managed to hide, or transfer to people like Putin. The D.O.J. ivestigation of Trump's insurrection and attempt to overturn the election of 2020 Trump once again described as a political witch hunt, a crime, illegal, blah blah. And now, with Trump back in office, Trump asserts that he will clean up the corrupted Justice Department, and restore integrity to it. This is, of course, excactly the opposite of what Trump has already done, and will continue to do. Every investigation and action taken agaisnt Trump during teh Biden presidency was legal, valid, appropriate. The only invalid, corrupt aaspect of them is that they did not, yet, result in Trump's indictment, trial, conviction, and execution. If they ever do, which now seems quite unlikely, justice will, at long last, have been served. Trump's reverse, false version of recent history is alarming, alarming that the United States, or any other country, would even consider electing to the nation's highest office a person who does things like that. In terms of telling big lies, loudly, over and over again, and weaving them into an entirely false narrative of current reality and history, Trump ranks with Hitler and Stalin, among other tyrants. A completely fasle version of histoy and reality, in which the authoritarian, the Stalin, HItler, or Trump, becomes the innocent victim of diabolical enemies, and is determined to save the country from them. In his speech Trump complained that media outlets like CNN and others are more than ninety percent against him or unfavorable to him, and that this is illegal. So decress the fuhrer. Illegal to be against, or to criticize, Trump, the leader. Trump's authoritarian behavior, his unconstitutional, illegal executive orders, his illegal chainsaw destruction of the government, his constant lies, attacks against judges, ritics, and the media, most alarming of all,seems to have the complete, unmitigated approval of his MAGA mob masses, evangelical Christians included. Since he is saving the country, everything he does is fine, or something like that. Millions of MAGAts aare convinced that all of Trump's legal problems and involvement in the criminal justice system is nothing ut a huge conspiracy to destroy him, and that his responses, his intentions of "going after" his enemies, are nothing but payback, justified. Trump will do many,many more horrible things, and his adoring cult following will meekly accede to all of them. Nothing could be more frightening to contemplate.
