Becoming Human, For Once

CRITICIZING AND DISAGREEING with the American President is everyone's sacred duty - heaven help us if we all become sycophants - but no less important is doing so in a respectful and decent manner, indeed, a courteous manner. The level of courtesy throughout a society reveals its level of civility, its level of advancement. We must all remember that when we disagree with someone, no matter how strongly, the other person does not lose respectability. And yes, Obama deserves to be criticized in a civil, courteous manner. The way he's been criticized, verbally attacked, is shameful and disgusting. Obama the Moslem. Obama the Pakistani, the radical socialist revolutionary. I mean, c'mon people. When you sound that unreasonable, you sound stupid, and nobody believes a word you say. People tend to form their opinions, and then never question them again, but instead, seek ever more ways to justify them. This relieves one of the arduous pursuit of thought, which requires effort. Ever since the United States came into being, it has been on the verge of disastrous collapse, according to somebody or other. If we keep saying that long enough, eventually we'll be correct, like a broken clock, twice a day. And no, Obama is not destroying this nation. He isn't capable of it. Only we are. A little clear thinking, for once, wouldn't do any harm. For instance, pro choice liberals never seem to get around to mentioning that abortion is, verily, murder. If it isn't murder, then what is it? If abortion isn't murder, what is murder? Similarly, second amendment conservatives conveniently overlook the fact that humans are inherently too violent to all be carrying guns all the time, and that it really would be better if none of them did. Both abortion and guns should be perfectly legal, let's say, because we don't want big, tyrannical government in America, both abortion and guns should be legal - but very, very rare. Clear headed thinking, for once. Similarly, when we argue with each other and criticize our political opponents, we should do so like civilized human beings, not wild animals.
